Active Release Technique®

Dr. Raimi Tuchinsky is certified in ART treatment of both the upper and lower extremities, a certification that requires examination and annual re-testing.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does an ART session feel like?

You'll feel focused pressure on the tight spot while you actively move the muscle through its range — patients often describe it as an intense 'good pain' followed by a looser, lighter feeling. It's brief and targeted, and you're in control: the movement is yours.

How is ART different from massage?

Massage works broadly on a muscle to relax it and improve blood flow. ART is diagnostic and specific: the provider finds the exact adhesion by feel, then uses your own precise movement combined with directed tension to release it. The two complement each other, and we often use both.

How many ART sessions will I need?

Many overuse problems respond within a handful of sessions — you should feel measurable change early, and we reassess at every visit. Long-standing adhesions can take longer, and results depend on also addressing the activity that caused the problem, which we'll help you adjust.
